Trashy Salt Lake

Yes its off topic, but it needs to be said.

Over the years I have enjoyed hosting friends and others who are visiting Salt Lake. One of the most common comments I have heard about Salt Lake is how clean downtown and its suburbs are. Unfortunately, that has changed. Hardly a day goes by that I do not see someone throwing a cigarette butt out their window. (One of these days I am going to pick it up and throw it back in.) If you can afford to smoke, you can afford to buy a car with an ashtray.

The trashy behavior in the Salt Lake area is not limited to smokers. At the park where my children play soccer, there is a garbage can next to every field. At the end of each day I spend 5-10 minutes picking up trash. I could spend an hour or more to get it all. The worst part is that a lot of the trash is within 10 feet of the trash can I can understand a 5 year old not making the effort, but teenagers - and their parents - should not be so d***n lazy that they cannot take three steps to the garbage can.

Many people move to Utah because of the beauty. If you cannot pick up your own trash, go back to where you came from. If you are a Utah native - move to the landfill. At least you'll feel at home.

Well said! It sickens me to see people who are so lazy that they can't walk to a trash can. It REALLY pisses me off when I see litter like that up in the mountains! I totally agree with you, if people can't take care of our state, they need to get the frack out!
