Sometimes Being Slow Can be A Benefit
This morning I gave a presentation on copyright law to the Utah Chapter of American Society of Training & Development. The presentation went well and all of the participants were actively involved. (Whenever I give a presentation about the law I have a fear of the audience staring at me for an hour with a glassy look in their eyes).
Fortunately, it was not until I sat down that I suddenly realized what my real fear should have been. I was giving a presentation to a group of people who give presentations and training for a living. I was training the trainers. Attorneys aren't usually the most dynamic group and I would have wondered - are they listening to what I am saying, or critiquing my presentation skills.
Fortunately, it went well and they were kind to the novice.
