Patent Reform Marches On

The House subcommittee on Intellectual Property has approved patent reform legislation as introduced last year. The patent reform legislation (H.R. 1908) makes several significant changes to the patent laws, including provisions for third party submissions of prior art, a first to file system, and a post grant opposition system.

In the meantime, the Administration has also weighed in on the patent reform issue. The Administration suggested several changes to patent reform, including a requirement for patent harmonization are part of the shift to a first to file system and objections to the bills damages reform provisions.
