"Obstructing" Patent Reform

It is interesting how politicians view those who disagree with their goals as "obstructionists."  On Monday members of the Utah Technology Counsel met with Senator Hatch regarding the Patent Reform Act of 2007.  Apparently Senator Hatch encourage members to provide input on the bill.  A summary of the event noted, "The Senator challenged Utah’s technology companies to be proactive and help craft the final language in the bill as opposed to being obstructionists."

Unfortunately, the Patent Reform Act of 2007 has several provisions that will benefit large companies at the expense of smaller ones.  As Utah's economy is based on smaller business, perhaps those "obstructionists" are simply putting the interests of Utah's economy ahead of those of large corporations.  Maybe our Senators could do the same.
