Invented In Utah
Today the Utah Valley Entrepreneurial Forum hosted Invented In Utah. There are several events which give awards for innovation. The unique spin on the award is that the top three contestants give their presentations to the group, who then votes on their placing and the associated awards. The top three inventions were:
BICECREAM MAKER - an ice cream maker which attaches to a bike. Your kids can make their own ice cream while they ride. Apparently, the average American eats five gallons a year. At least your kids are getting some exercise before they indulge. The product can retail for under $20 and ongoing sales can be obtained by selling different flavor packs.
KLYMIT - provides clothing which uses noble gases to improve insulation in outdoor clothing. KLYMIT's technology allows for lighter weight clothing that provides better insulation. Even better, the insulation value can be adjusted by adding or releasing gas, so you no longer have to put on and take off layers throughout the day as the temperature changes.
PORTABLE LANDING ZONE SYSTEMS - provides a quick way of designating a landing zone for medical helicopters. By designating the landing zone, the helicopter pilot is able to more quickly and safely land during the day or at night.
All three appear to be innovations which will be successful and further Utah's economic growth.
Voting was conducted with Pulse Interactive Media's clickers.
And the winner is:
1st Place - KLYMIT
2nd Place - Portable Landing Zone Systems
3rd Place - Bicecream Maker
