Lunch on Senator Hatch
Over the past few months I have been somewhat critical of Senator Hatch for his support of the misnamed Patent Reform legislation. Thus, I was surprised Friday when I received a call asking if I would attend a luncheon with Senator Hatch.
Today I attended the luncheon with 9 other 30 something business people. To my surprise, most of the luncheon consisted of Senator Hatch answering questions about pending legislation and asking for our input on a variety of topics facing Congress. He even gave me a few minutes to address my concerns regarding Patent Reform. Senator Hatch further requested that we consider some of the issues that had been raised and to provide suggestions on better ways to solve the problems.
I was impressed that Senator Hatch would take the time to listen to a group of young business people and to actively encourage them to provide both concerns and proposed solutions. Let's hope he can help improve Patent Reform.

I agree, the patent reform needs some tweaking. . . I met Senator Hatch a few years ago, in a meeting about a humanitarian project my firm was working on. He was humble and interested to what everyone had to say. I also was pleasantly surprised.
