The Digital Divide
The last month was to be my month for dropping out of the digital world. A week at scout camp in the Uintas, a long week end on Lake Powell followed by a a ten day vacation in Mexico. So here is what I found.
Verizon gets reception in the Uintas. ATT got reception at one spot about two miles from camp. Thus, my cell phone became the community phone. This was not too bad as I had hoped to stay in contact. Lake Powell was virtually impossible to get a signal.
Mexico, has been a disappointment. Not because they are technologically out of it. Just the opposite. I got emails and calls from my clients at Chichen-Itza - two hours into the Yucatan jungle. I got better cell phone reception there and at Xcaret than I do in parts of Sandy. On the bright side, I can at least do a blog post while overlooking the Caribbean Sea.
Unfortunately, I cannot use the - I didn't get your email excuse. So much for relaxation.
