The U.S. has been viewed as one of the world leaders in technology for nearly a century.  Our dominance, however, may be slipping.  A recent report indicated that over half of all of the utility patents granted in the United States in 2008 when to inventors from countries other than the United States.  It appears that while we are slacking on pursuing technologies, the rest of the world is moving full steam ahead.
