The Legal Issues In Social Media
Yesterday the Cyberlaw section of the Utah State Bar held its monthly meeting. Rather than hearing from an attorney, they called upon Steve Spencer of Twelve Horses to give some industry perspective of issues that attorneys practicing in the area should be aware of. Steve did a great job of addressing issues most attorneys are aware of, and raised several which people had yet to consider. In essence, Steve gave a great checklist of issues that employers should address regarding their employees use of social media. I think practice sections of the Bar should be more active in involving those from industry in such presentations, as it will result in attorneys better understanding and serving the needs of their clients. Thank you Steve for a great presentation.
The Cyberlaw section also held election of its officers for 2009-2010. Perry Clegg of Bateman IP Law Group is the new chair, David Langeland of Callister Nebeker & McCullough is the new vice chair, and Ben Holt of Bateman IP Law Group is the new secretary.
Anyone who has interest in the legal issues relating to e-commerce and other forms of business over the internet may be interested in attending future Cyberlaw section meetings.
