Brown

Well said. Based on the language of the denials that Judge Sippel has thus far ordered, this is shaping up to be a rough case for "South Butt". Its clear that there is a problem when the judge quotes an entire rule of evidence in one of his orders, and another begins with a clever, attributed but uncited quote about thin ice and hot water. One is left to imagine how bad those motion calls really were...

I think either the Judge is a little too defensive over the logo of his own Denali jacket, and ought to recuse himself, ;) , or the defense attorney isn't a very good salesman, and ought to take a quick course on how to convince others of the obvious.

Comment on Equalization is Not Equal

Well said Rand.

Comment on Be Careful of What You Say - And More Careful of What You Don't

Great post, to be honest i read about it a lot and it still very interesting.

Comment on Steal Your Children's Future

I agree and as soon as people start actually paying for everything the government is doing, they will come to the conclusion that the government could function on less money. That is part of my problem with Obama's pledge of keeping taxes the same or giving a tax cut to 95% of tax payers. You now have 95% of tax payers who have no reason to care what the government spends. While you can keep adding taxes to the top 5%, eventually that well runs dry. The top 5% either give up or move to a jurisdiction with more reasonable taxes.

Furthermore, history has shown over and over that taxes creep down. You may not be paying the tax today, but eventually you will. A prime example is the Alternative Minimum Tax. It was put in place to make sure that the very wealthy aren't able to avoid taxes. Now it is hitting many middle class families. The only way to control government spending is to have everyone pay in so that every tax increase hits everyone.
Comment on Steal Your Children's Future

I've always wondered why voters and politicians talk about tax "cuts." There's no such thing as a tax "cut" except when there's a surplus. There's only a tax shift to our children.

We gotta get into the mindset that once we've decided how much we want government to spend, well, that's the amount we need government to tax.

Comment on The Death of Business Method Patents

your article is admirable. that is true you shared. i really liked it.

Comment on Be Careful of What You Say - And More Careful of What You Don't

Nice post.....
I was searching for the same from past two weeks and now got it here.

Comment on Utah Patent Application Update - Patent Applications Published on 7-26-07

Cool,

Thanks

Comment on Utah Patent Application Update - Applications Published on 8-23-07

Cool,

There was alot of patents at this time!,

I dont understand how this works, do these people need to have made it to patent it,

Or do they patent the idea?

Keep up the good work,

Thanks for bringing this up

Comment on Opting Out Of Martindale-Hubble

It is a bit like real estate, increasing price by 10% every year, based of course on the premise that the owner spends 7% every year on maintenance, which they usually dont. This has led to oveerpricing and inability of owners to sell their homes, making the realtors rich, since they get to either buy the property at a low price, and keep their commicion. Increasing fees avery year on anything is bound to kill it. You have to give consumers options, reinvent yourslf.
